Services I can offer

I would be happy to solve any engineering design issues in which computational field theory can be applied fruitfully--i.e., if it would lead to cost effective designs, products and processes.

For consultancy, I can think of offering two services:
  • Modeling engineering problems on computer
  • Applying computational field theory to engineering design (such as mechanical, electrical, etc. design)
Really speaking, computational field theory is not one cohesive area, but rather a collection of a few methods like FEM, FDM, BEM, etc. To these methods, now, there is this addition of the new method I invented, namely, the FAQ method.

Computational field theory can be applied in a wide range of engineering problems and design issues. For example, stress analysis, computational fluid dynamics, thermal design, electromagnetic fields simulation, etc.

If you are interested in exploring if my knowledge of computational mechanics (say of finite element analysis) could be of use to you, then please drop me an email. My human-readable email address is: tonebrush[AT]vsnl[DOT]net

If you are browsing this site from the viewpoint of offering me a job: NDAs and other contracts can, of course, be signed, but the employment contract will necessarily have to exclude all the rights, including the intellectul property rights, for the FAQ method that I have invented. This matter is beyond negotiations--well, it's so at least for now!

My background (for consulting)

I have a diverse background in terms of all: education, research and practical work experience.

The education has been in metallurgical, materials, software, and mechanical engineering, up to Ph.D. level, in both USA and India. I have spent a total of 6+ years in academic research after my MTech (out of which about 3 years in USA). I have spent about 9 years in software engineering (out of which about 4 years in the USA). Further, I have spent no less than 5 years in Indian engineering industries.

My background includes:

  • Application engineering for non-destructive testing (NDT) equipment and systems, especially with the electromagnetic (eddy current) technique.
  • Manufacturing processes: Shop-floor experience analyzing engineering and quality issues which arise in manufacturing processes, e.g. processes such as: heat-treatment, powder metallurgy, metal tubes manufacture, casting, welding, machining, etc.
  • Composite Materials: Research on composite materials, especially, the advanced ceramics
  • Professional software development: Mostly on the Windows platform. Experience includes the entire development of a new software product called "ToneBrush"
  • Computational Mechanics: Original research involving engineering and computational field theories from following areas:
    • Electromagnetic Fields
    • Fluid Mechanics
    • Heat Transfer
    • Mechanics of Solids (Stress fields)
    • Fracture Mechanics (Singularity in stress concentration, stress intensity)
